Goop Detox~Day Five

Last night & today have been a real struggle for me. I am hanging on by a thread here.
I am dying for something more filling & satisfying than pureed raw fruits & vegetables. Half the day today was spent traveling to a hockey game nearly 2 hours away. I didn't bring enough food with me & was so hungry & cranky I'm surprised my husband is still living. I was really ready to rip someones head off.

It's amazing to me that just a few short days ago the idea of eating all this healthy food was something I was actually craving. That's how much my body needed it. And, now? Well, I've had enough & I'll take a cheeseburger & a beer, thank you.
One of the three of us doing this detox has had enough & is done. Which, I am so jealous of right now. The other friend is hanging on {by a thread as well} & determined for us to finish this thing out. So, I am here, hanging on. Barely.
I keep on telling myself it's only 2 more days & I will feel so defeated if I cave. And, then I'm like, 2 MORE DAYS?! Hell NO!
This is a very low calorie plan & sticking with it this long has been very hard.

DAY FIVE:
7:00am {or upon rising}: A glass of room temperature lemon water
8:00am: Herbal Tea {still doing black coffee}
10:00am {breakfast}: Peach & Almond Smoothie
11:30am: Coconut water
1:30pm {lunch}: Raw Crudite {carrots, green beans, radishes, cucumbers, zucchini} with Carrot & Ginger Dressing
4:00pm {snack}: Beet, Carrot, Apple & Ginger Juice
6:00pm {dinner}: Cucumber & Avocado Soup

Peach & Almond Smoothie
Again, the same method as the past 4 days.
I didn't have peaches, so I substituted some frozen cherries. I love cherry almond smoothies. This helped me get through the morning hours.

Note: I did not eat the crudite for lunch. I was so hungry when I got home from traveling that I needed something more. So, I had 1 serving of steel cut oats instead.

Beet, Carrot, Apple & Ginger Juice
Serves 1
From Goop
This juice is the most incredible color & is wonderfully sweet. Beets are said to lower blood pressure, carrots pack a super beta-carotene punch, apples are cancer-fighters & ginger just loves your heart.

1 large or 2 medium beets, cut into wedges
1/2 lemon, zest & pith removed
2 large carrots
1 large apple, cut into wedges
1" piece of ginger

Juice everything into a glass, give a stir & enjoy.

Note:
Carrot, beet, ginger juice is actually my all time favorite fresh juice. It's what I always order at a juice bar. So, I was happy to have a glass. I tried it with the apple as directed. But, omitted the lemon. I didn't want it to be too acidic...my stomach is in a very fragile state right now.

Cucumber & Avocado Soup
Serves 1
From Goop
Really light & refreshing, this soup is also incredibly satisfying because the avocado makes it so creamy.

zest of 1/2 a lime
juice of an entire lime
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cucumber, peeled, seeded & roughly chopped
1/2 avocado, peeled & roughly chopped

Blend everything together until totally creamy & smooth.

Note: I had this for lunch yesterday instead of the Miso Soup. It's tasty...but, satisfying? No. It felt like all I had for my meal was a jar of baby food. It is scheduled to be tonight's dinner. But, I can tell you right now that if that is all I ate for dinner tonight I would most definitely cave! Come on! ONE cucumber & a 1/2 an avocado for dinner?! I just can't do it.
Tonight, I am doing the Detox Teriyaki Chicken with veggies, or a salad. The next two nights involve protein {fish or chicken}, rice or quinoa & roasted squash. Those I might be able to handle. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.
I'm trying to finish this thing out, but it might be a 5 Day Detox.

Hahahah just read you stopped the detox!
I on day 7, but as I really really cheated one day ( cafe glacé,chocolate, ect ect ) I should rewind of one day. Soooo day 6 it is!

All the foods and juices I loved!(exept the carrot/ginger dressing!) Already ate healthy,so I wasn't stuggling with the food but didn't look at her portions at all! Maybe that's why I never felt really hungry!

Hope my skin will clear! SOON!!!So I can step out and use all that newfound 'energy' (don't really feel energized, but I am energetic naturally!)

Was nice to bump into a fellow detoxer!!

Will try all your cookies recepies in two days !! ;-)

I followed this detox, loved reading your posts each day, which helped get me through it. I didn't feel nearly as alone on it! On day 5 - at night - I caved. I DID eat the raw crudite for lunch and I could not fathom 1 cucumber & 1/2 an avocado as a dinner after that. That was it. And for me, the beet juice as a "snack" did not cut it. I threw in the towel, happy to have made it as far as I had, very ready to chew something with calories!!

Ha! I love that you were reading along with this! That's the whole reason I posted my process here, so I'm happy it helped you.
I wish I had been able to stick it out all the way to 7 days, but I found out quickly that I'm a baby when it comes to being hungry :)
I have no idea how you managed the crudite for lunch too!
