A bench scraper is a tool designed for pastry work, to divide dough, and clean up any excess flour, or scraps from your work surface. I use mine for that. But, more often, I use it for picking up chopped up food & transferring it where it needs to go...like, the saucepan. I also use it to clear off my cutting board. I bring it out every time I cook & I'd be lost without it.
