Bake Sale
As promised, some pics from the Bake Sale I helped organize for our school carnival this past weekend...there were too many amazing desserts for me not to!
I, of course, made some of the treats. Not as many as I had hoped, because it was hard to find the time to bake & do everything else that needed to be done.
I didn't have to do it all alone though...this year, I lucked out & got some helpers.
First, is my friend Christine...who I've known since taking a "Mommy & Me" nursery school class together with our kids, way back in 2004. She owns a restaurant in town, called Brendan's 101. She knows the in's & out's of running a food business...like, how to price & merchandise the baked goods so they'd move & they did! She also brought the famous cupcakes her restaurant sells, which are a favorite of mine.
Second was Krissy, who is known around our school as being an extremely talented baker. We've been acquaintances for years, as our kids have been in the same school since way back in nursery school too. But, I finally got to know her this weekend & I'm so happy I did! This woman can bake! She decorates the most gorgeous sugar cookies ever, makes mermaid cakes and baked peanut butter & jelly muffins with candied bacon {omg!}.
She also brought these chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes. They were out of this world....I'm still obsessing.
Some other treats brought by loads of other parents were these cute ladybug sugar cookies {bad picture, but hopefully, you get the point}, my saltine toffee,
peanut butter cookies with Hershey kisses {a favorite of mine since I was a kid...these in particular were amazing!},
loads of cupcakes in all shapes & sizes, brownies galore, caramel popcorn bars,
key lime bars & much, much more...
Needless to say, the scale is not my friend this week...

Love this post.
Can you tell us what the delicious looking chocolate and green frosted item in the lower left corner of the first pic is?
Hey Kate ... AWESOME!!!! I'm very impressed, so often bake sale food is a little scary ... all of this looks wonderful. Next year I have to go to the sale.
Leland-
How could I forget to mention those?
They were frosted mint brownies & they were so popular that they sold out first!
We didn't bake many sweets at culinary school (you can read about it here, if you like: "Culinary School: Three Semesters of Life, Learning, and Loss of Blood" http://amzn.to/eOKJWw on Kindle), but now I wish we did (especially those lovely pink frosted cookies!).
